日本では急激に少子化が進み、地球規模では気候変動や生物多様性の喪失、国家間の戦争や国内紛争と経済への影響など課題が多くあります。いまの子どもたちや若者にとっては厳しい未来が待ち構えています。
一方、一人一人に目を向ければ、技術革新が進み、国を超えた地域間の交流が促進され、個人の声を広く伝えることができるなど機会が広がっています。少子化の一因である若者の所得向上が実現すれば、日本において子どもを産み育てる家庭が増えていくはず。日本に魅力を感じた海外からの移住者も増えるはず。また、こうした所得向上や企業・社会の在り方が持続可能（サステナブル）なものであれば、子どもたちも「世界は良い方向に変えていける」と自信をもち、次世代にも持続可能な未来をつないでいくことができるはずです。
歴史を振り返れば、人々はその時々で利用可能な「知」を総合して目の前の課題に対応してきました。その軌跡や成果は学校では理科と社会という別々の科目として、また暗記科目として学ぶ傾向にあります。しかし、いずれも人類の歩みや科学の成果をまとめ、かつ現在進行形で進化し続けている実践知の集積でもあり、そこには過去の一人一人がリアルに各時代を生き抜いた結果が記されています。
こうした理科と社会という科目に散りばめられた人類の実践知を統合し、現在の一人一人が目の前の社会課題を解決するために自分事として探究・活用することができれば、各人の夢の実現とともに社会課題の解決につながります。
私たちは、理科や社会をリアルな実践知として活用することで一人一人が現実の課題を解決し、夢を実現することによって、子どもたちが自分たちの可能性を信じられる、持続可能な未来を創り出すことに貢献します。
The future looks grim for our children and youth, as Japan grapples with a rapidly declining birthrate and the world faces an onslaught of challenges including climate change, biodiversity loss, and the economic fallout from wars and conflicts.
On the other hand, when we look at each individual, technological innovation is advancing, cross-border regional exchanges are being promoted, and opportunities are expanding, such as the ability to widely convey individual voices. If the income of young people—a key factor in Japan's declining birthrate—can be improved, more families in Japan are likely to choose to have and raise children. Additionally, more people from overseas who are attracted to Japan's appeal are likely to choose to immigrate here. Furthermore, if such income improvements and the ways in which businesses and society operate are sustainable, children will gain confidence that “the world can be changed for the better” and will be able to pass on a sustainable future to the next generation.
Throughout history, humanity has relied on the collective wisdom of its time to overcome challenges. While we often compartmentalize this knowledge into subjects like science and social studies, it's important to remember that it's an interconnected body of practical knowledge that has evolved over centuries. The stories behind these discoveries and innovations are the result of countless individuals grappling with the challenges of their time.
If we can integrate the practical knowledge of humanity scattered throughout subjects such as science and social studies, and if each individual can explore and utilize that knowledge as their own in order to solve the social issues they face today, then the realization of each person's dreams will lead to the resolution of social issues.
Through the application of science and social studies as practical tools, we empower individuals to overcome real-world challenges and achieve their aspirations, fostering a sustainable future where children can believe in their limitless possibilities.

社会課題の解決のために理科・社会の知見を探究し実践・協働する場をコミュニティ・アセットとして創出・活用します。お子様の幸せを願う親御さんや夢を叶えたい若者たち、日本での暮らしに惹かれる外国の方などの個人、およびこうした人々を応援する企業が、地域に根ざしたコミュニティ資源を再定義し活用する支援します。
・宮崎県都城市の山田町で田畑や山林を利用した食品生産や気候変動・生物多様性対応、ボラ土など地域資源の利用と山林再生による持続可能な経済活動
・東京都世田谷区の代田(下北沢周辺)で地域コミュニティの資源活用や親子のライフワーク統合を通じた新しい学習サービス
・その他、参加者による独自のコミュニティ・アセットの創出活用と相互補助、および先行事例の調査・整理・インタビュー等による共有
We will create and utilize a community asset where individuals can explore and apply knowledge from science and social studies to solve social issues. This service is designed for parents who wish for their children's happiness, young people who want to realize their dreams, and foreigners who are drawn to life in Japan, as well as for companies that support these individuals. We will support the redefinition and utilization of locally-rooted community resources.
- Community-driven sustainable initiatives in Yamada Town, Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture, encompassing food production, climate change resilience, biodiversity protection, and reforestation, utilizing local resources such as volcanic ash.
- An innovative after-school program in Daita (near Shimokitazawa), Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, that leverages community assets and integrates family life.
- Furthermore, participants will create, utilize, and share their own, unique community assets, supporting one another. We also share the results of our research, which involved studying, organizing, and interviewing previous cases.
